Prince of Persia!

This is really starting to turn into a food blog!

I had the chance to stop for lunch at the Persian Grill on Germantown Pike yesterday. This is my second visit, first for lunch. I was a little apprehensive on my first visit, I'm not known for trying new and exotic anything! Let me tell you that I was pleasantly surprised. The menu features simple fare consisting of grilled meats, such as veal, lamb, and chicken, served with delicately seasoned basmati rice. Persian food is infused with the delectable spices of saffron, sumac, and turmeric. Giving the flavor a citrus like undertone.

On this visit, the food and service was impeccable. I ordered the grilled chicken platter, which consisted of a skewer of chicken with onions and green peppers, a generous portion of the basmati rice, and a grilled tomato. Before the platter was served, my server brought out some warm pitas and butter to hold me over. These were good, but I think they could have been fresher. When my platter arrived, it looked and smelled delicious. As simple as the order was, the presentation was very colorful, with the red of the tomato, the green peppers, and the rice flecked with yellows and oranges. Going past the visuals, the taste did not disappoint. The chicken was slightly charred, lending that excellent flavor, yet it was still moist and tender. Now I'm not much of a vegetable person, but I've been recently willing to try. I sampled the grilled onion, and they were quite good. I actually ate them all. The peppers were a bit mushy, and the tomato could have been grilled longer, in fact, I may have eaten more of the tomato had that been the case.

The service was excellent and attentive, the gentleman attending to my table was very amiable. I felt that I was a top priority, without him being overbearing.

All in all, my platter and beverage cost me $11.55, tax included. Not something I'd like to spend everyday for lunch, but it was a healthy and refreshing alternative to a fast food stop.
